Schedule
  • 10:15-10:45am CS-FET: Chemical Sensitive Field Effect Transistor Dr. Hossain Fahad - Research Lead, BSAC
CS-FETs are silicon channel transistors with the traditional gate stack replaced by ultra-thin films of metal and/or metal oxides. The work-function and surface charges of these films are readily manipulated upon exposure to target gas species. I will show how such changes in the sensing film results in a strong modulation of the underlying transistor current, enabling high detection sensitivity; and functionalizing individual transistors in an array with different chemical sensing films can enable a selective detection with multiplexed gas sensing.
  • 11:00-11:30am Fiber Optic Temperature Sensors Outperform Thermocouples and RTDs in Challenging Environments Jeffrey Fisher - Application Engineer, Micronor Inc.
Gallium-Arsenide based (GaAs) fiber optic temperature sensors offer an inherent absolute, high precision temperature measurement in the most difficult environments. Their entirely non-metallic and passive optical design allows for a vast amount of applications such as high voltage, microwave, radiation, sensitive medical or laboratory conditions, hazardous locations, and extreme magnetic fields. In these settings, conventional thermocouples and RTDs are incompatible and, sometimes, dangerous. This presentation will explain the sensors’ design, illustrate both standard and application-specific sensor configurations, and introduce the new FOTEMP1-OEM-MNT; a low cost, single-channel signal conditioner aimed at seamlessly integrating fiber optic temperature sensing into any industrial control system or OEM instrumentation. We hope to see you there!
  • 11:45am-12:15pm Dr. Sensor - Makes Sensor Sense Shawfu Chen - President, Dr. Sensor
Dr. Sensor is a provider of customized sensor-based solutions. Dr. Sensor’s sensor-based controller is a unique platform which integrates multiple sensors and controller functions to form one single solution unit to satisfy your sensor’s needs. This is an introduction to our company and our solutions.
  • 12:30-1:00pm Sensors Upgrade Electric Switchgear Safety Alan Hansford - RFMicron
Careful temperature monitoring of electric power distribution switchgear is essential for its safe operation and to protect human life. Smart Passive Sensing technology protects critical switchgear equipment by alerting on temperature increases that point to impending failures. Battery-free,maintenance-free, wireless sensors come in sizes even for the hard-to-reach places.
  • 1:15-1:45pm Get Ready to Immerse Yourself in Virtual Reality Edoardo Gallizio - Product Marketing Manager, STMicro
ST Sensor Tile, the miniaturized development platform running high-quality & robust sensor fusionalgorithms, delivers immersive, high performance virtual reality experiences. Leveraging on ultra-low,high performance STM32L4 and unique accuracy provided by LSM6DSM + LSM303AGR, Sensor Tile can accelerate the time to market and enable a complete solution for the consumer of Industrial applications.
  • 2:00-2:30pm Structural Health Monitoring: Real World Applications Jeffrey Bergman - Acellent
Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a new technology being explored by the industry to improve thereliability of structures and reduce operational costs. Such systems are expected to reduce the need for maintenance actions and improve design efficiency. The core of this technology is self-sufficient systemsfor automated monitoring of structures. This session will provide an overview of SHM products developedat Acellent Technologies, Inc. along with emerging applications.
  • 3:00-4:00pm Startup Review Liz Kerton - Executive Director, Autotech Council
A handpicked selection of startup companies reveal innovations that are set to shake up the automotive industry. These entrepreneurs will take to the stage to share their visions for the future of the vehicle and mobility.
  • 4:00pm Sensors Magazine Prize Drawing
Find out if you’re a lucky winner of a Google Home from dropping your postcard or ticket off at the Sensors Magazine booth # 846! Note: must be present to win.
  • 4:00pm Best of Sensors Expo 2017 Awards Ceremony
