Schedule
- 10:15-10:45am CS-FET: Chemical Sensitive Field Effect Transistor Dr. Hossain Fahad - Research Lead, BSAC
CS-FETs are silicon channel transistors with the traditional gate stack replaced by ultra-thin films of metal and/or metal oxides. The work-function and surface charges of these films are readily manipulated upon exposure to target gas species. I will show how such changes in the sensing film results in a strong modulation of the underlying transistor current, enabling high detection sensitivity; and functionalizing individual transistors in an array with different chemical sensing films can enable a selective detection with multiplexed gas sensing.
- 11:00-11:30am Fiber Optic Temperature Sensors Outperform Thermocouples and RTDs in Challenging Environments Jeffrey Fisher - Application Engineer, Micronor Inc.
Gallium-Arsenide based (GaAs) fiber optic temperature sensors offer an inherent absolute, high precision temperature measurement in the most difficult environments. Their entirely non-metallic and passive optical design allows for a vast amount of applications such as high voltage, microwave, radiation, sensitive medical or laboratory conditions, hazardous locations, and extreme magnetic fields. In these settings, conventional thermocouples and RTDs are incompatible and, sometimes, dangerous. This presentation will explain the sensors’ design, illustrate both standard and application-specific sensor configurations, and introduce the new FOTEMP1-OEM-MNT; a low cost, single-channel signal conditioner aimed at seamlessly integrating fiber optic temperature sensing into any industrial control system or OEM instrumentation. We hope to see you there!
